Monthly Vegetarian Cooking
Class
and Potluck Supper
September 5, 2010
6:00 p.m.
Presentation:
Please welcome back Guy Wilson
on Monday, September 5, 2010 from a long hiatus of demonstrating
his cooking abilities. He has been a member of the vegetarian
society for many years.
Guy, who hails from western Mississippi and
southern Louisiana, grew up eating traditional Creole and
West African foods. In the early 90¹s he became Vegan,
substituting tofu, tempeh, and other seasonings for seafood
and meat. Over time, he has collected and revised many
of these traditional recipes into an unpublished cookbook
and has given cooking demos for the Buddhists, Taoists,
and Adventists. When not in the kitchen, he is a nature
photographer, his work attracting much attention in Knoxville.
He also plays and records music.
For this demo, he will make some variants
of hummus. He says that "hummus need not be boring." He
will also supply "things
to try it on."
We will begin at 6 p.m. at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian
Universalist Church on Kingston Pike in Knoxville. We will
share a vegan/vegetarian potluck supper.
Please bring
a vegan or vegetarian dish to share. There will be
a small collection of money to help offset the room rental.
Cost is $2 for members and $3 for guests.
